Postcards

I sent you postcards

From Rome

Paris

London

But perhaps

You didn't notice them

Piling up on your doorstep

They're easy to step over

Flat

Thin

Holding words of the weather

Featured attractions

And life changing events

Trying desperately

To send

A small piece of me

From here

To there

Making you a part

Of a process

Producing change

I wish postcards

Could hold more

Or if I could afford more

Perhaps I could send you

Something that would make

The neighbors envious

Of your traveling

Half

It's funny

I couldn't find

Your address

But I remembered it

Line

For line

And lines waited in

Sending in

A matter of moments

All those words

That had been

Turning

Over

I wrote that part

On the one with the picture

Of the sea
